Coming off his solo show with Moosey Gallery (Norwich, UK) at the end of last year, Weinberg started 2025 by creating a collection of studies to explore techniques and ideas outside his main body of work.

Without the pressure to add to the scope or breadth of his established universe, Weinberg used these studies to practice a lightness and looseness that is notably separate and distinct, although not floating too far from the otherworldly realm he’s spent years creating.

In the winter of 2024, Weinberg spent 6 weeks in residency at Ghost Ship Gallery practicing aspects of his technique. So it seemed natural for these works to sneak up to the Northwoods and back to a familiar sort of home.

Through Out in the Yard, Ghost Ship is proud to present 11 original oil paintings on paper—signed, matted and framed for your delight and enjoyment.

Samual Weinberg has shown his work extensively in the Midwest, and has had solo shows in Minnesota, Wisconsin, New York, New Jersey, England and Taiwan. His work has also been included in group shows across the US, including galleries in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, Philadelphia, Minneapolis, and most recently at The Hole in New York. In 2015/16 he was awarded a Jerome Fellowship for Emerging Artists, he was a 2017 recipient of a Minnesota State Arts Board Artist Initiative Grant and a Minnesota State Arts Board Creative Support for Individuals Grant in 2021. He was an artist in residence with Moosey Gallery in Norwich, UK in 2023 and had a solo show with them in November 2024. He received his BFA from the University of Wisconsin–Stout in 2013 and currently lives and works in St. Paul, MN.
