I am Kerry Ernster and I create mixed media paintings that are heavily inspired by the place where I live.  Lake Superior and the forest that surrounds my home offer an over abundance of fodder for my work.  I am constantly bombarded with visual and emotional stimuli that cannot be denied.  All of this information is absorbed and reconfigured erupting in great bursts of energy in my studio.  The work pushes, pulls and drags me around in a mysterious battle that ultimately ends with a realized image.  Like the Big Lake- my work /process sometimes rages, sometimes rolls along and is sometimes tranquil-the only constant being that it is always changing.
