Ghost Ship Summer Residencies

Corrie Steckelberg

Corrie Steckelberg is a multidisciplinary artist based in Minneapolis, MN. She’s currently earning a BFA in Art at the University of Minnesota, focusing on nontraditional material sculpture/performance and drawing. During her Ghost Ship residency, Corrie will create a new series of watercolor and ink works on paper (between 6 and 13) with themes of flora and fauna, drawing from influences such as Medieval Iconography, Greek myth, Minimalism, Adventure Time, Aesop's fables, Lisa Frank, and Baroque design.


Lynn Zsidov-Steiner

Paintmaking workshop - Friday, May 30

Lynn is a Wisconsin-based oil painter and naturalist who strives to paint with the most environmentally safe materials she can find. During her residency, she’ll gather local iron oxide rocks to process down into usable pigments and lead a workshop demonstrating the paintmaking process used before paint was commercially available in tubes. In addition to instruction, Lynn’s workshop focuses on environmental safety for humans and the planet. Using some of the handmade colors, she’ll also complete a plein air or studio paint.


Libby Schultz - Raeven Jewelry

Libby is a Minnesota-based metalsmith working in a variety of techniques including casting, engraving, and precious stone setting. With a passion for experimentation, Libby plans to use her residency time exploring a new method of casting by using Lake Superior sand for casting metal in a more textural way. 


Lei Washington

Lei Washington is a ceramic artist living in Minneapolis, MN. She finds her joy in her ceramic art, lovingly making her work with nature, whimsy, mischief, and fun in mind. Each piece is totally one of a kind and focused on finding humor and delight in small things every day. She hopes her art brings you as many smiles as it brings her!


Neal Shipe

Neal Shipe is known for his sensitive performance of 17th century Scottish lute music. His unique arrangements of this repertoire on the seldom heard soprano lute have drawn him into the folk scenes of the midwestern and eastern United States. During his residency, Neal will write an EP that explores seafaring and pirate-themed lute vibes and will play a live show to share his work.


Molly Dean

Molly Dean is a singer, songwriter, guitarist and pianist who has been writing and performing for 20 years with roots in the Minneapolis music scene and creative opportunities that have also brought her performance across the seas. During her residency, Molly will complete five original songs and write an accompanying lyric book that delves into the theme of the music, which will draw inspiration from Lake Superior as well as the landscape of the Bayfield Peninsula. At the end of her residency, Molly will perform live at the gallery to share her work.
